Dr. Timothy J. Carmody is a board-certified radiologist and Fellow of the American College of Radiology with more than 30 years of expertise in pediatric radiology, interventional radiology, mammography, and cardiovascular imaging. Trained at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Indiana University Medical Center, his career spans clinical excellence, system-wide leadership, and a deep commitment to advancing imaging standards nationally. He is also an active community leader, having served on educational and charitable boards in the Des Moines area for over a decade.
Dr. Carmody has held senior roles across SSM Health, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, and Catholic Health Initiatives — including Medical Director of Imaging, Interim Regional Chief Medical Officer, and Chairman of Radiology — and founded Carmody Healthcare Group. He has built and integrated programs in digital mammography, breast MRI, coronary CT angiography, and radiation dose reduction across multi-hospital systems.
A nationally recognized radiology policy contributor, he has served on multiple ACR commissions and committees, co-authored dozens of practice parameters and technical standards, and sat on the RADPAC Board of Directors. His published research spans interventional techniques, pediatric nuclear medicine, and vascular interventions, with presentations at the Radiological Society of North America. Dr. Carmody continues to drive the integration of AI and telemedicine into modern imaging care.
